Biography

The power pop trio of the Young Executives stuck out amidst their native of Lincoln, NE. As they made their debut in 1988, the local club scene either hosted straight cover bands or punk acts. So, the original four-piece of Eric Medley (guitar/vocals), Mike Ropp (vocals/bass), David Marks (drums/vocals), and Greg Bashford (guitar/vocals) moved on to the college scene as they played at a number of fraternity houses. But by the time their first album, entitled Compositions From the Shelving Company, debuted in 1991, the departed Bashford slimmed the lineup down to a three-piece. The Hüsker Dü-inspired pop continued for the next three years as Ismist Records released the 1994 follow-up of Cottonwood. But shortly after their second record came out, the Young Executives disbanded upon Mike Ropp's move to graduate college that same year. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
