Thelma Frye Gregory was a fictional character on the hit series, Amen, she was portrayed by Anna Maria Horsford.

Character Background

Thelma Frye was born 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was raised by her mother (who was also portrayed by Horsford), and father, Deacon Ernest Frye (Sherman Hemsley). however, many years later, Thelma's mother had passed away, and her father, Ernest, had raised her and become both Mother and father to his only child. As Thelma had gotten older, her father had inherited The First Community Church of Philadelphia, by his late father. On The Show, Thelma had met the Church's new Reverend, Rueben Gregory (Clifton Davis), and by the time, Thelma was a Spinster.

In One Episode, Thelma had decided to Move out, after taking advice from her father, about Reverend Gregory wanting to marry her (instead, he said that they both should become friends), when Thelma decided to Move out of her father's house, she stayed with Reverend Gregory, as of course, Reverend Gregory was sleeping, so anyway, Deacon Ernest Frye, and the church members: Rolly, Amelia and Casseitta Hetebrink (who both Thelma called) came to see what was going on, all four of the church members are shocked to find out that Reverend Gregory and Thelma are sleeping together, so decide to vote him out, if his nonsense with Thelma does not stop.

By Then, It was all innocent, and in early 1990, Thelma finally married Reverend Gregory, and her name was now Thelma Frye-Gregory, and at the end of the series ending, Thelma and Rueben gave birth to a child. It was a boy, and Thelma and Reuben became married couple with a child.
