Theodore Lyman Eliot, Jr. (born 1928 into Boston's Eliot family) was the United States Ambassador to Afghanistan (1973-78). He is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.

Eliot graduated from Harvard College in 1948 and received a Master of Public Administration from Harvard's Graduate School of Public Administration in 1956.

He also served as Dean at Tufts University (The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy) after serving as Ambassador. He served as Secretary General for the United States of the Bilderberg Meetings from 1981 to October 1993.[1]
