Thomas Robinson
(fl 1589-1609). English lutenist and composer. The Cecil family were among his patrons. He probably taught the lute to the future Queen Anne in Denmark before 1589, when she married James I. His lute method The Schoole of Musicke (1603) helped advance lute technique in England and his music is charming and of outstanding quality. He also published lessons for the cistern (1609).
