Thrasea Paetus, Publius Clodius, prominent Roman senator under the emperor Nero, leader of the Stoic and republican opposition. His father-in-law was A. Caecina Paetus, husband of Arria (the elder). He modelled himself on Cato of Utica, of whom he wrote a Life. Condemned for disloyalty, he committed suicide in AD 66. See also HELVIDIUS PRISCUS.
