Thunderbolt II


A-10

A twin-engine, subsonic, turbofan, tactical fighter/bomber capable of using air-to-surface-launched weapons in a close air support role. Short fields with unimproved surfaces are its normal takeoff/landing areas, and it is capable of long-range operation in a target area and can be refueled in the air. It carries an internally mounted 30 mm cannon that can destroy a variety of armored vehicles. See also A-10A.
