Thy Tears Might Cease
Thy Tears Might Cease (1963), a semi-autobiographical novel by Michael Farrell, unpublished during his lifetime and edited by Monk Gibbon after his death. Martin Matthew Reilly is the cherished child of a prosperous household in the Ireland of John Redmond. His Catholic education makes him bleakly anti-clerical while the Easter Rising overwhelms his constitutional nationalism, so that he enters enthusiastically into the armed struggle.
