TiE (formerly The Indus Entrepreneurs) is a global nonprofit dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. TiE has 49 chapters in eleven countries, with a total membership exceeding 12,000. TiE is most closely affiliated with the South Asian business community, and is recognized as an important networking forum for entrepreneurs and investors.[1] TiE's sponsors include nearly every venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. The World Affairs Council of Northern California held its 2002 annual gala in honor of TiE for TiE's contributions to the international community and to global commerce. [2]

Overview

TiE was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region. There are currently more than 12,000 members and over 1,800 charter members in 49 chapters across 11 countries. TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs.

Membership

TiE has three tiers of membership: Global Charter Members, Charter Members, and Members. Global Charter Members are internationally recognized business leaders. Charter Members have achieved significant success in their local business community.

TiE Foundation

The TiE Foundation's purpose is to channel efforts and activities to cultivate entrepreneurship through fund raising activities and campaigns initiated and spearheaded by TiE Foundation. The TiE Foundation program supports analysis, research and discussion of economic policies of different nations, with a major focus on South Asia. The Foundation seeks tax-deductible contributions through events, direct solicitation, and similar means from individuals and institutions interested in advancing such policies efforts.
