Architecture and Landscaping: Étienne Martellange
 

(1568/9–1641)

French architect who designed the Jesuit Novitiate, Paris (1630—destroyed), and followed (with Lemercier) the refined Classicism later illustrated in Parallèle de l'Architecture (1650) by Roland Fréart de Chambray (1606–76). Martellange exerted much influence on French C17 and C18 ecclesiastical architecture.
