Tim Johnson (born 1962) is an American, film and segment director, Consultant, Animator, Producer and Voice Actor who made his animated feature film directorial debut in 1998 on DreamWorks's first computer animated comedy release, Antz, which starred the voices of Woody Allen, Sharon Stones, Anne Bancroft, Sylvester Stallone, Gene Hackman and Jennifer Lopez. He then directed the animated action adventure, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, staring Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Joseph Fiennes. In 2006 he directed Over the Hedge staring the voices of Bruce Willis, Gary Shandling, Steve Carell and Wanda Sykes.

Johnson joined PDI in 1988 and two years latter co-founded the studio's Character Animation Group. He later served as the animation director on The Simpson Halloween special, Homer3, leading the team in transporting the two-dimensional Homer in to the three-dimensional world. The episode has remained a favoret of fans of The Simpsons, and has become a classic to animation aficionados.

Johnson's background in film and animation dates back to his college years. While earning a BA in English Literature at Northwest University, he produced two animated films, both of which he earned Richard Grant Organization Award. Upon graduating, he worked for two yers as a freelance animator and director. His introduction to computer animation came in 1985 while he worked on the staff at Post Effects in Chicago. He also directed the first CG Pillsbury Doughboy commercial.

He is currently working at DreamWorks Animation as executive producer for How to Train Your Dragon in 3D.
