Biography

Over the past fifteen years Boston native Tim o'Heir has been one of the busiest producers/engineers on the scene. Beginning at a local studio that recorded commercials, O'Heir busied himself by establishing connections in the fertile Boston music scene and soon used the studio to record local acts on the sly during off hours and on weekends. After the popular Cambridge-based studio, Fort Apache, began stealing O'Heir's business he applied and got a job working at the new studio. For several years O'Heir worked day jobs then stayed up late into the night recording underground bands, until his resume was such that he was finally able to break out of the local scene. Teaming up with Sebadoh, O'Heir produced 1994's Bakesale and was again enlisted by Sebadoh leader Lou Barlow to produce his side project for the Kids soundtrack. The unexpected success of Folk Implosion, the group moniker Barlow used for the soundtrack album, granted both Barlow and O'Heir more freedom in their careers and O'Heir used the experience as a spring board to what has become a successful career producing popular indie bands such as Come, Possum Dixon and Superdrag. Recently O'Heir left his native Boston and relocated to New York to further his producing career. ~ Steve Kurutz, All Music Guide
