Tiroler Passionsspiele

Tiroler Passionsspiele, collective designation of a group of twelve passion plays which are all based on an original of the early 15th c. Written between 1480 and 1500, they are designed for performance on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Day. The first section comprises the story of the Passion up to Christ's appearance before Pilate, the second the Crucifixion, and the third the Resurrection. The best-known version is known as the Sterzinger Spiele.
