Tishomingo is a town in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 316 at the 2000 census. Its ZIP code is 38873.
Tishomingo is named after Chief John Holmes Tishomingo of the Chickasaw tribe, who signed the Treaty of Pontotoc in 1832. He died on the famous 'Trail of Tears' and is buried in Little Rock, Arkansas [1]. His son, Iuka, is the namesake of the county seat of Tishomingo, County, Mississippi.
The town of Tishomingo developed with the building of the Illinois Central Railroad. Andrew Jackson also camped at the site of Tishomingo, on his way to visit the Creek nation.
The jazz standard "Tishomingo Blues" is named after Tishomingo.
The National Register of Historic Places is the United States' list of places worthy of preservation.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²), all land.

The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 73.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 74.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $19,044, and the median income for a family is $31,250. Males have a median income of $26,250 versus $14,107 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,480. 20.9% of the population and 16.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 18.9% of those under the age of 18 and 27.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
