Plot

To devotees of Greek cinema, the story line of this standard mid-level effort from writer/director Yiannis Dalianidis might seem more than a little familiar. Kostas Voutsas stars as Eftihios, a smalltime cloth merchant who falls in love with one of his workers, the pretty Kiki (Martha Karayianni). Eftihios and Kiki are soon married, much to the chagrin of Panayiotis (Spyros Kalogirou), the neighborhood butcher who is in love with the newlywed bride. In order to win her affections, Panayiotis decides to hang up his butcher's apron and become a movie producer, building his first project entirely around Kiki. Through a highly contrived series of maneuvers, Panayiotis manages to talk the jealous Eftihios into both consenting to Kiki's participation in the dubious undertaking and agreeing to keep their marriage secret so it won't detract from her nascent career. Eftihios, needless to say, quickly comes to regret both promises. Nitsa Marouda co-stars with Mary Metaxa and Yiorgos Tsitsopoulos. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide
