Hübner, Tobias (Dessau, 1577-1636, Dessau), tutor to the princes in Dessau and, as der Nutzbare, a member of Die Fruchtbringende Gesellschaft, claimed to have been the first to write alexandrines (see Alexandriner) in German, but he seems to have been anticipated by Lobwasser and Melissus. He translated into German the unfinished epic Les Semaines of Guillaume du Bartas (1544-90) as Die ander Woche (1619) and Herrn zu Bartas Erste Woche (1640).
