'Tod in Ähren'
‘Tod in Ähren’, a short poem by D. von Liliencron, written in 1877, and revised and reduced to twelve lines in 1880. It speaks of the agony, prolonged over two days, of a soldier mortally wounded in a cornfield. The title is a bitter pun. The poem was first published in 1883 in Adjutantenritte.
