Review
Stephane Grappelli was right at home joining some of Nashville's finest musicians for this successful blend of jazz and country. This date, co-led by fiddler Vassar Clements, is lots of fun. The two violinists show immediate chemistry on the opener "Alabamy Bound"; the album also includes strong renditions of "Bluesette," "It Don't Mean a Thing," and a wild take of "Tune Up." They also explore the Beatles' "In My Life" and do a charming medley of "Tennessee Waltz" and "Danny Boy." Among the important sidemen are Scottish jazz guitarist Martin Taylor, pedal steel guitarist Doug Jernigan and bassist Jim Ferguson. Strongly recommended. ~ Ken Dryden, All Music GuideTracks
