Biography

New York City's Toilet Boys originally formed in the late '90s as a backing band for Debbie Harry and transsexual performer Miss Guy. The crowd's response to the one-time show was so favorable that Guy and friends -- guitarists Sean and Rocket, bassist Adam Vomit, and drummer Electric Eddie -- kept the lineup together, minus Harry, and started recording songs together as the Toilet Boys. Their sound, a mix of '80s Sunset Strip pop-metal and '70s New York punk, was often punctuated by the band's live shows, where Guy wore skimpy, Frederick's of Hollywood-style costumes and Sean's laser gun/flaming red pitchfork guitar shot sparks. The Toilet Boys released a number of picture discs and regular 7"s before their first full-length, Living Like a Millionaire, was released in 1998 on R.A.F.R. Coldfront Records released the band's follow-up EP, Saints and Sinners, in 2001. ~ Jennifer Maerz, All Music Guide

Toilet Böys are an American rock and roll band from New York City, USA. The band's classic line-up is made up of Miss Guy, Sean Pierce, Electric Eddie, Rocket and Adam Vomit. Toilet Böys have toured world-wide supporting musical acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers[2], Nashville Pussy[3], Orgy[4], The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone & Deborah Harry. They were known for a highly energetic stage show that included spark-showers, smoke, lasers, strobes, synchronized flame-columns, cheerleaders, confetti cannons, burning guitars and fire breathing performed by their lead guitarist, Sean, during the finale.

On 23 May 1999, the band inadvertently set fire to the LA2 while supporting Nashville Pussy in London, when pyro from the guitars ignited cargo netting in the roof of the venue. In the wake of the Great White Rhode Island nightclub fire, the band decided to disband. The general feeling amongst band members was that their show would be greatly diminished without the pyro show.[2] An album of unreleased material, demos, and remixes entitled Sex Music was released in 2007.[5]

History

Miss Guy and Debbie Harry in 2009.

Toilet Böys are an American rock band. The Toilet Böys formed in 1995 and their first show was as opening act for Deborah Harry, who performed with her own band at the rock club, Don Hill's, in NYC.[6] They were not formed as a backing band for Deborah Harry as is erroneously published and believed.

Toilet Böys lead singer, Miss Guy (who was house-DJ at the club)[4] was inspired to form a band and fulfill a dream of playing a show with Harry, one of his idols, if just for one night. He put together a band specifically for this occasion and it was only intended to be a one-time performance. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with the result being the booking of Toilet Böys for several additional gigs. These performances led to demand for further performances. Within a year and a half the Toilet Böys line-up had solidified into the permanent, 'classic' line-up,[7] under which they gained worldwide notoriety.

Trivia

  • The song "Another Day in the Life" is credited in the movie American Pie 2. It can be heard during the party scene towards the end of the movie. However, it did not appear on the movie soundtrack.
  • The band contributed to the Ramones tribute album, titled The Song Ramones the Same, with their cover of "Carbona Not Glue".
  • In the ashes of their break up in 2003, Sean & Rocket formed the group Afterparty.[2] Sean, under the moniker "Chopper,"[8] performed his normal guitar duties as well as being the band's lead singer.
  • Sean has worked as a doorman in a gay nightclub despite not being gay himself.[8]
It's a private club, so members can go right in, but if they're not yet members I have to make sure they're not cops. If they say they're not cops, I ask them to take their dicks out and play with them before they can go in. That's my job. It can be kind of weird, cuz I'm a straight guy.
