Call him the boy from Ipanema! An openly gay artist with AIDS looking to touch the lives of a greater audience in the spirit of compassion and tolerance through music and lyrics, Briggs is a master of this smooth, sensual, seductive music. In 1989, he was struck with a paralysis called Guillain-Barre Syndrome and put on full life support until it passed. He then faced having to re-learn to walk, talk, write, etc. Ever working to regain vocal control through aerobics, biofeedback, muscle training and vocal exercises, Briggs set out to produce his first solo album in 1992. ~ Will Grega, All Music Guide
