Thomas "Tom" Allen Thayer (born August 16, 1961 in Joliet, Illinois) is a former American football center/guard in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins. He won a Super Bowl as a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Previously, he played in the United States Football League for the Chicago Blitz and the Arizona Wranglers in 1983 and 1984, respectively. He is currently the commentator on WBBM (AM) for Chicago Bears broadcasts and contributes to the Steve Dahl podcast from Chicago. Tom graduated from the Cathedral of Saint Raymond grade school in May of 1975. He then attended Joliet Catholic High School and graduated in 1979. Tom helped the Catholic High "Hilltoppers" to win consecutive 4A Illinois State football championships in 1977 and 1978. His brother-in-law is ex-Atlanta Falcon John Scully. Tom currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. He is an avid surfer in the off season on Maui HI.
