Tong Yang Major pours its heart into its cement. The construction company makes and sells cement and ready-mixed concrete and uses those materials to build luxury apartments, offices, industrial plants, and dams. In addition to more than 30 manufacturing factories in South Korea, the company runs a research and development facility, where it focuses on designing concrete that is water-tight, crack- and slump-resistant, and suited to handle harsh weather conditions. Tong Yang Major has acquired such companies as Sewoon Corp. and Hanil Synthetic Fiber. It also majority owns Tong Yang Cement, formerly a joint venture with France's Lafarge, one of the largest cement companies in the world.
