Top Pair

Poker Guide: Top Pair

In Texas Hold'em, when one your hole cards creates a pair with the highest community card after the flop, you have the Top Pair.

SoundPoker Says: In Texas Hold'em if you were dealt a K-3, and the flop come out as a 4-8-K, you would have an K-K Top Pair. The top pair is beaten by any card combination greater than a pair, or by higher pocket pair. In the case of our example, pocket aces (A-A) or Three of a kind would beat the K-K top pair.
