Tourneau tells time with style. The nation's largest luxury watch retailer, in operation since 1900, has four stores (including the Tourneau TimeMachine, its flagship location which opened in 1997 and covers 16,000 sq. ft.) in New York City and more than 35 others sprinkled across the US. The stores sell watches and vintage timepieces under more than 100 well known brand names, including its namesake brand (Tourneau). The family of chairman Robert Wexler took over Tourneau in 1975. The watch giant was acquired in October 2006 by an investor group led by Green Equity Investors IV for more than $300 million. The group includes members of the Wexler family and Tourneau management.
