The newspaper's engine room, the news room, is led by editor Peter Gleeson, deputy editor Anne Roebuck, news editor Catherine Webber and chief of staff Rachelle Chapman. They are supported by about a dozen newsroom journalists including regional editor John Anderson, business editor Tony Raggatt, council reporter Lendl Ryan, health reporter Jennifer O'Reilly, consumer affairs reporter Emily Macdonald, education reporter Chris Quagliata, defence reporter Jessica Johnstone, court reporter Malcolm Weatherup, environment reporter Dan Bateman and police reporter Leonie Johnson. Other media outlets regularly follow the agenda the Townsville Bulletin sets on a daily basis. Most recently the paper has been leading coverage on the collapse of financial planning firm Storm Finanical. In the past it has shined the spotlight on the region's ailing health system, appalling Bruce Highway, inept political decisions and the fury of mother nature, most notably Cyclone Larry.
