Toxic Narcotic is a DIY crustcore band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band has stated that they do not wish to be categorized by any specific subgenre of punk.[1]
Toxic Narcotic is a hardcore punk band that has advocated DIY ethics since 1989, through constant touring and release of records through their own label, Rodent Popsicle Records. Their first full-length release was 88-99 in 1999, which contained re-recorded versions of most of the band's catalogue up to that point. By 2000, Rodent Popsicle Records had gained considerable influence on the Boston punk scene, releasing the records of local bands and setting up and promoting shows and tours. The band's first official album was We're All Doomed in 2002, released on Go-Kart Records. During the following years additional tours and EP releases were undertaken. In 2005, the band began a hiatus, during which members Bill and Will would start Mouth Sewn Shut, a similarly-styled band with a greater emphasis on Toxic Narcotic's little-explored reggae influence. Both Mouth Sewn Shut and Toxic Narcotic were scheduled to release albums in 2006, the former on Rodent Popsicle Records, the latter on Alternative Tentacles. They are mentioned in the song "I Just Saw The Gayest Guy On Earth" and "Everyone In Allston Should Be Killed" by Anal Cunt. Toxic Narcotic is listed on the soundtrack of the motion picture, “Decline of Western Civilization Part III” and in two television commercials for eMusic.com. The television commercials promote independent music.
