Review

The overriding misconception about Kai Tracid's stylistic philosophy was that trance and acid had never been fused before, but fortunately Trance & Acid, Tracid's first studio full-length, turned out to be an enjoyable if pointless exercise in viable electronic dance. From the narcoleptic Faithless monotone of "Bad Shape," to the strangely effective assimilation of the Neverending Story theme in Top Ten hit "Life Is Too Short," Tracid bottled his field's production frustration and came up with a sound somewhere between San Francisco's DJ Amber and Germany's Paul Van Dyk.
