A type of bridge that interconnects two different types of LAN protocols, such as Ethernet and Token Ring. Translating bridges are generally very complicated devices. However, source routing transparent (SRT) bridging integrates both bridging methods of Ethernet and Token Ring to solve the problem. See SRT.
