  • Run Time: 30 minutes

Plot

Having devoted the previous episode of his popular PBS series to Portugal's southern coast, Rick Steves heads on to the country's capital city of Lisbon. After offering a brief mercantile history of this great port city, Rick pays a visit to the sailor's quarter of Alfama and the Resort community of Sintra. Pointing out the remnants of the Visigoth occupation, he also savors the Manuelite artwork in the Belem district. Highlights of this episode include a traditionally "humane" Portuguese bullfight, a stopover at the Popular Fair, a quick trip to the Fados (nightclubs), and gallons upon gallons of tasty port wine. With this 26th installment of Travels in Europe With Rick Steves, the host wraps up a 3,000-mile vacation which began on the coast of Ireland -- and, simultaneously, Rick closes out his second TV season. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
