Tray and Play

Tray and Play is a technology developed by Microsoft for the Windows Vista operating system and is a part of Games for Windows initiative. It allows users to drop a game disc into a CD or DVD drive and start playing almost immediately, while the game installs itself in the background and streams off the disc with minimal or zero caching, just like on a game console. The first commercial game to use this technology is Halo 2 for Windows Vista.
