Paris, treaty of, 1259. By this Anglo-French treaty of 13 October Henry III surrendered his claim to the Plantagenet lands of northern France which his father John had lost in the first decade of the century. In return, his possession of Aquitaine in south-west France was confirmed by Louis IX of France. The treaty clearly stated that Henry should pay liege homage to Louis for his French lands.
