Its George Ignatieff Chair of Peace and Conflict Studies is held by Thomas Homer-Dixon, the author of the books The Upside of Down: Catastrophe, Creativity, and the Renewal of Civilization, and The Ingenuity Gap. Named after Pierre Trudeau, it conducts advanced research and provides an undergraduate degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.
