Answer of the DayHow old was Grandma Moses when she began to paint? American painter
Anna Mary Robertson Moses, aka Grandma Moses, was born on this date in 1860. Having lived all her life in New York's farm country, Grandma Moses took up painting when she was in her 70s and too frail to do the manual work of the farm. She painted scenes of farm life in a style called

Sugaring Off sold for $1.2 million. When she was 100, she illustrated the Christmas favorite "
A Visit from St. Nicholas." Grandma Moses died a year later.
