Biography

Formed in San Francisco in 2000, Turn Me on Dead Man are a psychedelic rock quintet with tinges of stoner metal (aka "heavydelic") and have gained notoriety in the Bay Area for the intensity and decibel level of their live shows. The band caught the eyes (with artwork for what would become the group's debut) and subsequently the ears of Jello Biafra, who signed them to his Alternative Tentacles label. The band released its first album, God Bless the Electric Freak, in 2005; Technicolour Mother was released a year later. The band has toured extensively throughout California and the East Coast and has appeared at the SXSW music conference. ~ Megan Frye, All Music Guide

History

Formed in the Bay Area in 2000 by drummer and principal songwriter Mykill Ziggy, the band quickly became popular among the San Francisco area's metal scene. Known for the extremely loud concerts and incredible jams, they were discovered by legendary Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra and signed to his Alternative Tentacles label. Upon being signed, the release of their debut album, God Bless the Electric Freak came soon after in 2005.

Band Name

Their band name comes from the supposed hidden message in The Beatles song Revolution 9. The lines 'Number nine, Number nine' have been thought to say 'Turn Me On Dead Man, Turn Me On Dead Man' when played backwards. This is one of the best examples of un-intentional backmasking.
