Choose from the insane clown driver Sweet Tooth or the drunken cab driver Yellow Jacket. Twisted Metal takes you through several fully 3D levels such as The Warehouse District or the deadly highways of LA, and even on city rooftops. Fight your way to the end to face Minion. If you defeat him, you will have your one wish granted by the Twisted Metal contest creator, Calypso. Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it. ~ All Game Guide

Review: Enjoyment

There's not much not to like about Twisted Metal. The gameplay is fast and furious, not to mention fun. What could possibly be more fun than piloting a loaded ice cream truck and annihilating a city block? ~ Joshua Romero, All Game Guide

Review: Overall

Singletrac has single handedly built themselves a reputation in one title. Twisted Metal marks the first game from the company, and while the game has its downsides, the positives simply out weight the negatives by a factor.

Graphically, Twisted Metal is pretty impressive. The levels are very well constructed, and have a great deal of detail in them. The vehicles themselves look good and blow up real nice as well. The only think about the graphics that are flawed are the dark colors used in some of the levels. This makes for some difficulty in viewing things. Not too much of a problem, but it can become a nuisance.

Gameplay wise, Twisted Metal is very solid. The controls are very good, and differ accordingly, depending on which vehicle you choose from. There is a wide variety of vehicles to choose from, each with his/her own weapon and characteristics. Each of the characters are all in the Twisted Metal tournament for some reason or another, and all are determined to attain the goal of a meeting with Twisted Metal creator, Calypso. The car's have special moves they can execute via control pad motions, a la Street Fighter.

Sound wise, Twisted Metal is above average. The game's sound effects are decent, although some aren't very clear. Pedestrians scream when you hit them, and car's explosions are nice and loud. The music in the game is a nice mixture of heavy rock beats, with the end level music being somewhat of a serious theme. All very nice.

If you're a PC gamer who really enjoys car combat titles, you simply can't pass up Twisted Metal, bottom line. ~ Joshua Romero, All Game Guide
