In a biomechanical system, a complex movement of rotation around the longitudinal axis, which is derived from rotation about the other two cardinal axes. In diving, the body may rotate around its own transverse axis (rotation); the body's own axis of rotation may describe a curve round another axis (precession); and the angle between these axes of the body's own rotation and precession may vary (nutation).
