(quantum mechanics) A thought experiment that demonstrates the essence of the wave-particle duality, in which radiation (either light or massive particles) passes a diaphragm with two openings, and interference fringes can be observed behind the diaphragm even when the intensity of radiation is so low that the photons or massive particles can be detected one by one.
