Plot

Changing life styles in the former Iron Curtain countries have been extensively preoccupying the artists who try to draw a synthesis, and U Pana Boga za piecem is one such film. Shot in a small village in eastern Poland, the film paints Polish rural life from the eyes of a young Russian woman who comes to the local market to peddle her wares. The village is practically ruled by the local priest, but in comparison to what she has to live with on the other side of the border, this looks like paradise to her. The film is a comedy of manners, but at times it almost sounds like a fairy tale. ~ Gönül Dönmez-Colin, All Movie Guide
