Udayana

(11th cent.) One of the most important philosophers of the Nyaya-Vaishesika school. Udayana's masterpiece was the Atmatattvaryiveka (On the Discrimination of the reality of the self), a rebuttal of the Buddhist doctrine of Anatman, and a synoptic account of the relationship between the controversies over the reality of the self and other philosophical doctrinal differences between Nyaya and Buddhist schools.
