A band of radio frequencies from 300 to 3,000 megahertz.
Bands of television channels from 14 to 83 on the television dial, operating at frequencies assigned by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from 470 to 890 MHz (megahertz). UHF channels were first assigned by the FCC in 1952 when 70 additional channels were authorized for increased television transmission. In 1965, a law was passed requiring all new television sets to be equipped to receive UHF programming. Today, there are 250 UHF stations in existence. See also very high frequency.
