Character Bio

Ultros is tough opponent to the adventurers in Final Fantasy VI and is the most sarcastic octopus you'll ever meet. He fought the party on several occasions, each time resurfacing more sarcastic and annoying than ever before. After several futile attempts at attaining his revenge, Ultros found his "true calling" at Dragon's Neck Coliseum.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: The main character of an early Square game for the PC was an octopus, which the company decided to bring back for Final Fantasy VI. Since he was once the main character and now ranks only as a minor villain (almost like a has-been), the octopus makes numerous attempts to steal back the spotlight throughout the game.

HOW THE CHARACTER GOT HIS NAME: The character reminded one of the programmers of a childhood toy octopus that he had named "Altos." This was translated into "Ultros" in the U.S. version of the game.

FAVORITE TRANSPORT: Water

HOBBIES: Irritating the party

AMBITIONS: To get revenge for the times he was beaten.
