The U.S. House Energy Subcommittee on Energy and Environment is a subcommittee within the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. It was formed during the 111th Congress by merging the Energy and Air Quality and Environment and Hazardous Materials Subcommittees.[1]

Jurisdiction
The Subcommittee's jurisdiction includes national energy policy generally; fossil energy, renewable energy resources and synthetic fuels; energy conservation; energy information; energy regulation and utilization; utility issues and regulation of nuclear facilities; interstate energy compacts; nuclear energy and waste; the Clean Air Act; all laws, programs, and government activities affecting such matters; and Homeland security-related aspects of the foregoing.
The subommittee also has jurisdiction over matters formerly held by the Environment and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee. These include environmental protection in general, including the Safe Drinking Water Act and risk assessment matters; including Superfund and RCRA; Mining, oil, gas, and coal combustion wastes; and noise pollution control. Solid waste, hazardous waste and toxic substances, previously handed by the Environment Subcommittee were transferred to Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection.
