Biography

Sounding like a dirty combination of post-hardcore and indie rock, United States came together in Brooklyn, NY, with members from the Long Island D.I.Y. scene, including bands like the Assistant, the Insurgent, and Scent of Human History. Comprised of drummer Justin D., vocalist Justin S., bassist John, and guitarists Ren and Jay, United States appealed to fans of bands like Fugazi and Sonic Youth. They released an eponymous cassette on Fuckittapes in 2005; the CD/LP Divorce Songs was issued the following year on Iron Pier, Rok Lok Records, and the U.K.-based Life in a Box. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide
