The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (also known as SON) is an undergraduate and graduate institution at the University of Pennsylvania located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since its establishment in 1935, the School of Nursing at Penn has remained the only nursing school affliated with the Ivy League and is currently the top-ranked private nursing institution in the nation.[2] Penn Nursing sets a higher intellectual standard which is reinforced through an emphasis on science and research. To date, SON is ranked second in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding.[3]

- ^ Although HUP began operating a school of nursing in 1886, it wasn't until 1935 that Penn responded to The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association's request for higher education institutions by adding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education to its list of academic programs.
