Upton Scudamore is a village in Wiltshire, England, located about a mile north of the town of Warminster.
In earlier centuries, it was often spelt Upton Skidmore. It appears on John Sexton's map of Wiltshire (1610) as simply Upton.
The River Biss has its source as the Biss Brook in Upton Scudamore.
Thomas Owen, a noted translator of works on agriculture, was rector of St Mary's Church from 1779 until his death in 1812.[1][2]
Local government and MP
Upton Scudamore elects a parish council every four years. Most local government services are provided by West Wiltshire District Council and Wiltshire County Council, both of whom have their offices in nearby Trowbridge. The village is represented in Parliament by the MP for Westbury, Andrew Murrison and in Wiltshire County Council by Fleur de Rhé-Philipe.
