Urus-Martan ambush was a double attack by the Chechen separatists which killed 12 Russian soldiers and Chechen policemen and wounded four others. The ambush was the worst single loss for Russian forces in nearly two months.
Military command said the insurgents attacked the Chechen police troops after their UAZ vehicle
hit a mine and ran off the road near the town of Urus-Martan. A Russian military
