Major Members: Mickey D'Loughy, Anne Polesnak, Eddie Pellino, Eric Singer
Biography
Math rock darlings Utah! came together in spring 1998 with Eddie Pellino (guitar/vocals), Eric Singer (baritone guitar/vocals), Anne Polesnak (cello), and Mickey D'Loughy (drums). The four-piece gigged in and around their native Kalamazoo, MI, eventually hooking up with the likes of Haymarket Riot, Aloha, Ultimate Fakebook, and Guided by Voices for larger shows. They inked a deal with Arborvitae in late 2000 and hooked up with Bob Weston (Archers of Loaf, Sebadoh) to record an album. A self-titled EP appeared in late 2000; Zoo Sounds & Destructovision marked Utah!'s debut album in spring 2001. Singer also left the band in early 2002. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
