(1934– )

Indian architect. Among his works may be cited buildings for the University of Jodhpur (1968–85), the City Hall, Balotra, Rajasthan (1980–3); the Indira Gandhi Research Institute, Bombay (1984–7), housing at Surat (1988–92), and many other designs. He advocated learning from Le Corbusier, Louis Khan, and others, as well as from traditional Indian architecture, and attempted to merge these into a new vocabulary, as at the developments at Jodhpur.
