Valley National Gases (VNG) makes its money supplying welders and passing industrial and specialty gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and argon. The distribution of gases and welding equipment (welding machines, wire, fluxes, and electrodes) accounts for most of the company's sales. VNG's gases (pure, mixed, or liquefied) are delivered from some 75 company locations in more than a dozen primarily midwestern and mid-Atlantic US states. Products and applications range from oxygen for medical use to propane for heating to acetylene for welding. Private investment firm CI Capital Partners had owned Valley National Gases until selling the company to Matheson Tri-Gas in 2009.
