Plot
Produced by Lester F. Scott, Jr.'s low-budget
Action Pictures, this average silent Western starred
Buffalo Bill, Jr. (later known as Jay Wilsey) as revenue agent Tom Mallory, who wagers that he can catch a gang of rum runners operating from the other side of the border to Mexico. Disguised as a drifter, Mallory noisily arrives at the gang's headquarters, aggravating the villains to the point where they chase him across the border and into American jurisdiction. There is a bit of romance with Kathleen Collins, the off-screen wife of fellow B-Western star
Guinn "Big Boy" Williams, and veteran actor-director
Oscar Apfel makes a rare appearance in a B-Western as Collins' father. Scott, who had previously released his little oaters through the
Weiss Bros. Artclass Pictures, had finally secured a distribution deal with the more mainstream Pathé organization, when that company went under in the upheaval caused by sound. The Valley of Hunted Men was based on
Ride 'Em Cowboy, an original story by Harrington Strong. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
