Biography

The bouncy, ska-influenced pop band Valvomo were best known for the single "Mika Kesa" (What a Summer), which turned out to be one of Finland's most popular songs in 2006. Comprised of Helsinki-based musicians Seta, TeiSka, Ville, and Markiisi, the band formed in 2005 in a bid to make politically aware music with a pop bent. The band's first single, 2006's "Mika Kesa" soared to number one on the Finnish charts and held that position for eight weeks. Their debut album, Heita Ensimmainen Kivi (Throw the First Stone), arrived in mid-August of that year. ~ Margaret Reges, All Music Guide
